New Cowl on the Block

Hi there dear Friends...

I know I don't need another cowl and I know I have a blanket to finish ... but what can a girl do when she sees such gorgeous yarn and such beautiful patterns all over and around her ???

Well, a girl got to get the yarn and start a new cowl...

And that is exactly what I am doing this weekend. I took a couple of days to spend with my family for Spring break (yes I said a magical word...Spring is coming to Oregon).

I went to the RoseCity Yarn Crawl last month and this was one of the free patterns they were giving at one of my favorite yarn stores, Happy Knits in Portland, OR. I think that you can find the pattern on Ravelry.

It's a fun and easy cowl and I'm enjoying the simple and calming feeling of just knitting rows and rows of garter stitch...just getting ready for the next step now.

And, of course, if I'm going to have a few days off I will have a couple extra minutes and it will be filled with some knitting and crocheting ... my kind of fun.

I met with "the girls", Teresa, Gracie and Betsy, last week for a lunch and of course we had gifts for each other and a wonderful time together (which really is the biggest gift we really have). I thought I got a picture of all of us, but i didn't get one ... I did get a picture of the goodies we exchanged and the wonderful hats and sweater Betsy made for me to send to my mom. My mom makes a starter welcome box for underprivileged pregnant ladies in Brazil. I have been making hats to send to her and she adds them to the boxes... well, now that I told my friends Betsy, my builder Kristy (yes, what are the chances you are going to build a house and your builder also looooves to knit ? ) and a couple of my friends MaryAnn and Rosario have also helped me with a few more hats this time.

My mom is going to be so excited when she gets them. I will have more details about this project on a later post. Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to Teresa, Betsy and Gracie for the gifts and for their friendship and a big THANK YOU to Betsy, Kristy, MaryAnn and Rosario for the hats. You are making a difference in a child's life and your hats will keep their heads and hearts warm :)

Hope you all are having a great week and have a great beginning of Spring.

Thanks for stopping by ...I love to hear from all of you. You are such a great support and you make my day :)

Let it snow ...Let it snow... Let it snow...

Yes, my dear friends its been snowing here non-stop since yesterday and we are grounded in the house... This afternoon we walked to New Seasons to get lunch and get out of the house for a little while, itwas soooo cold but soooo prety outside.

I worked, cleaned, did laundry and of course crochet and knit ... what else is there to do when snow ...and snow some more ...and snow some more...

Everything is so pretty and white...

It's my birthday tomorrow and I think for sure it will be an inside kind of birthday...
Knitting, cooking, crocheting and spending time with my family... what else could I possibly want? I will be very happy with relaxing and enjoying my calm day at home.

I have been working on my SIL's blanket and have finished this cowl you will see here... a simple double crochet cowl in navy and winter white, made with Lion Brand bulky yarn with size 10mm hook. So quick and easy I cannot even begin to tell you...I started and finished last night.

Lots of plans to do a lot more of relaxing, knitting and crocheting...

Before I go just wanted to show you a little friend I had visiting me all day on my balcony today ...he/she was there all day ... I kept putting food and bread outside and he/she kept coming back to visit me ... such a gift... :)

Thanks for stoping by and I hope you are staying warm wherever you are ...we are freezing here and it looks like we are in for a really cold and snowy kind of weekend,

Have a wonderful weekend my dear friends :)

I also want to say Thank You for staying with me and being patient and thank you to all my new followers ... YOU ALL make my day :)

I'm Still Here

Hi there Friends...

Are you still with me? I'm still here... Even though I have not had the time to breath.
I have been trying really hard to read your blogs, but every time I have a second around 11 pm I fall asleep about 5 minutes after I start.

This move has been unbelievably hard and just so , so very tiring for me and my family. We lived in our house for almost 17 years and had so much more than we ever thought. Although we do feel a sense of relief and believe the whole process to be cleansing it has been a lot harder on us and my health than we thought.

It's all done now. We are on our apartment ( unfortunately I don't have any pictures to show yet as it is still a big huge mess) and we have started the process to build our house... Our new home which I cannot wait to see. I'll come back with lots of details for you... I promise.

Today I thought I just stop by for a second to tell you ... Yes, I'm still here and will now try to come back more often as we settle on our new life...

Before I go, just wanted to thank you for staying with me and wanted to show you a little project I finished about a month ago...

More details to come soon ...

Have a great weekend !
Lots of love.

New Followers and a Blue Cowl

I have to say I feel pretty silly...

I have been noticing that for the last 2 months nobody has joined my blog and silly me... I was thinking ...hmm maybe I have a virus...

well, I don't know where I was when everyone was talking about the google connect or all the other ways we were going to be able to stay connected while in blogland...
I didn't think it was going to affect my blog because I stayed connected by adding the blogs I joined on my sidebar...

Well... I just found out last night that everyone had added google friend connect to their blog and that is how their NEW friends could join them...
Do I feel silly now...
well, not now...today I feel better that I finally figure it out and now yes

ALL MY NEW FRIENDS CAN COME AND FOLLOW ME IF THEY WANT...

YOU ARE ALL MORE THAN WELCOME AND I'M SO SORRY FOR MY SILLYNESS and for how long it took me to understand what you all have been saying for almost 3 months...

Now I think I'm ready (this weekend I'll try to have other ways to have new friends and new followers to find me :)

If you have visited me and tried to follow my blog and couldn't ...Thanks for your patience and I think I'm ready now :)

Before I go just wanted to show you what I have been working on...

Remember this ???

Now it looks like this ...

It's a very easy pattern and I believe it's a free pattern on Ravelry...but I have made so many of them now I don't remember how I got it. I know a dear friend gave it to me from a free pattern she got.
I promise I'll be better about sharing where I got my patterns ... this process of selling my house is driiiiiving me crazy... (not sold yet and 2 teenagers at home in the summer to keep the house cleaned and beautiful 24/7 is not the funnest thing I have done )...

I made this one for a friend's daughter who just graduated from HS and is going away to college...I hope it will keep her warm on the cold winter days when se is away from home.

Well my dear friends ... I should go now... I had a stressful day at work and stressful afternoon getting 2 people to see our house today...
I'm going to make a cup of tea and go up to watch a bit of tv and work on the border of my niece's blanket (yes! I finished it and am working on the border now... will show the final product here soon).

Thanks so much for stopping by to see me ... hope you have a great rest of the week and for my new visitors if you want to join us now you can.

Big thanks and lots of love to you :)

Lady in Red

I have been giving a try at kick boxing to get myself motivated to exercise again.

I have a very generous friend at work who is a kick boxing instructor and decided to give us a class once a week for free.

Yes, it is hard work and it is kicking my behind I have to say... I'm also not the most coordinated person when it comes to exercise classes. But I have not let that stop me and I have now been doing it for 3 weeks... And I love it! I will refrain from showing you any pictures or videos as I'm sure it would win one of the Funniest Videos shows on tv...

Because she is so nice and generous I decided I would make her a cowl to keep her warm when the weather start getting cold.

Her favorite color is red and I think this one will look just perfect on her...

Just wanted to show you a picture as I just gave it to her today.

I just bought the yarn ... its Clutch. It's hand dyed here in Mt. hood, Or and the pattern is from a crochet magazine. I'll have to give you the details later as I don't have the magazine with me.

Hope you are having a fun week and enjoying whatever may be that you are doing this summer ...well, it might not even be summer for you... But I hope you are enjoying every day...

As always thanks for stopping by and I so appreciate all of your comments and messages.
Have a lovely day.
Loves :)

Simple White Cowl

A Happy and quick project...

Soft and beautiful yarn to work with, which was heaven to the touch...

Easy and relaxing knitting ...  unfortunately I did not make it from a pattern... I'll write the pattern (maybe) someday ???

I really enjoyed working on this project.

A quick go to have a new garment to wear tomorrow and the satisfaction of seeing it being on my daughter's wardrobe before winter goes away...

Another happy moment!

Thank you for stopping by to see me and for taking the time to make all the wonderful comments on my happy creations :)

Have a happy rest of the week!

Grey Scarf & Pink Cowl

Hi Friends ...
Hope you had a wonderful weekend...
I have been very busy as always. My daughter had homecoming dance this weekend and we went shopping fro dress...we had 6 girls getting ready at our house on Saturday...
very busy, very loud...but lots of fun! They were all so very beautiful and enjoyed their time together and we enjoyed watching them growing up and becoming young women...
Where does the time goes ???

In the meantime I have been working on the grey scarf I got inspired by Kirsten at cozymadethings.blogspot.com.
This was a fun and quick project and it brought memories of when I first learned how to knit...fun, enjoyable memories that I keep close to my heart.
I decided to make it a short scarf and I'm going to bind off and sew it together, put 3 pretty buttons (I haven't found the right ones yet) and make it into an infinity scarf/cowl...

I'll probably post the final project next week, but here you go ...that is what it looks like now...
pure...simple, meditative knitting ...

Sometimes that is just what we need...

I have been working on some hats to send to my mom which then adds to a complete layette and give to a needy family that is having a brand new baby...
It's such a great and rewarding feeling ...
I have not taken any pictures yet, but promise I'll show it to you before I send them off to Brazil.

Last I just wanted to show you this cowl I made last year...Again...

Very simple (just knitting on the round) but the yarn makes a great statement...

I don't remember the name of the yarn, I got it at a friend's store and she just moved ...
I just thought it is so pretty and so pink ...It makes me happy :)

Hope you enjoy your week and come back to visit me again soon.

:)

Update on my Ripple Blanket

Today I opened my blog and found out that I never put the pictures on my updated ripple blanket...
I have been working on it and trying to relax a bit...
So here we go...
My ripple blanket as it is today...
I few like it is not growing very fast, but sometimes I don't even have the time to finish 1 row...
so as it goes I
I row, row row my boat...gently down the stream...
merely ... merely, merely...
life is but a dream...
I'm very happy with how it is turning out ... but it looks like it will be a while before I finish it...:)

This week my objective is to finish this cowl I started last week...
when I show you the finished project I will give details about it.

So, now that I showed you what I've been working on I'm going to make some tea, go upstairs and get to work a little before I go nighty night...

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you soon again...
Have a great week!!!

A Few Last Year Knitting Projects and My New Projects this weekend

 Hi there

Hi there friends...Had a very busy and fun week. Went to a knitting group/class, Cirque Du Soleil Ovo (FANTASTIC!!!) with my husband and my kids and had our monthly knitnite group in my house.
I'm now just relaxing a bit in my couch and crocheting a bit a couple new patterns I just started this weekend. But first I have been wanting to post a few pictures of some of the things I have been knitting  since last year. I probably have done 10 times the number of projects I'm posting, but I didn't always remember to take pictures and after they are gone to their homes (I give most everything I make :)) then I cannot really take pictures anymore.
Hope you enjoy seeing some of my projects as much as I enjoyed making them!

Now I will show you what I have been up to this weekend :

First I'll show you my bag... Yay!!! I did finish my
Bohemian Bag...
I'm so happy with the final result. Love the leather handle (although I had a really hard time to figure it out how to put the snaps, but I did it!)
I'm so excited to wear it tomorrow :) Pure Hapiness. (thanks again Lucy from Attic24 for the great inspiration)

Because my bag was ready I just started having withdraw feelings...
I had to start a new project so I could use all of those great colors I had in my basket... voila...
I started a cute scarf with the linen stitch which is a very simple pattern... really just single crochet and a chain and repeat to the end (you need to start with even number of stitches).
I'm soooooo happy with the combination of colors!
Just pure bliss!
It's been raining the whole day here and it's so nice for my eyes  to have a bit of color to cheer me up.

And then last but not least...
My Mom's blanket.

I have tried several different patterns for this great yarn (Cascade Eco+) I got over a year ago.
I made a blanket for my Dad right before he passed away (I was able to give it to him, but he passed away a month after) and for some reason I just cannot get this blanket going ....:(
I do think this one is a go now... I have told my mom I'm working on it for a whole year.
I do love this pattern now and I'm going to make one whole bigger square the size of the square made out of 4 squares.
I think it wil turn out great and I'll be praying for my mom's health as I make it for her...
Cannot wait to see the final result, but since I just started (again) I know I have a long way to go... but it is a happy decision :)

I had a great relaxing weekend and hope you had one too!
Thanks for visiting me here and have a great week :)
