Rachael's Blanket Tah-Dah

i I know I have shown this blanket here not very long ago, but now I'm ready to show the whole thing and give you all the details...

I have made this blanket in record time for my pace... It took me about 45 days to finish it and another 3 days to make the border (I had to wait to get more yarn) ...
Even though I didn't work much on anything else while making it (which you all know is very hard for me) I think it was all worth it...

I think it turned out vibrant and elegant and I love the simple lines on it.

Don't you think the border gave a little feminine touch to it ?

I made a simple border granny style with a 6 double crochet shell finish

And here are the statistics :

I used 10 balls of

Lyon Brand Wool Ease
7 Oxford grey
1 Light grey and
2 Cranberry Red
With size H 5.0 mm Hook
Chain 183 sts
Double crochet to the end, turn
Double crochet to the end.
Continue in tis manner until the skein finishes or you have 10 rows.
Change color to red and do one row ...
Change color to grey again.
Continue in this manner until the blanket is finished changing to Light Grey for a row of your choice. In this blanket I chose the 4th row because I wanted the number to be uneven, therefore more pleasant to the eye.
After the blanket was finished I did 1 row of SC with Cranberry Red around the blanket, then 2 rows of granny stripes and the last row I did 6 DC in each chain space to form a shell...

and voila ...

The blanket is ready...

I'm super happy with it and even happier that me ... the super add knitter/crocheter was able to stick with it and finish it in no time ...

Now I just need to wrap it and take it to my niece Rachael who just graduated from High School in the beginning of the summer.
I think she will really enjoy it on the cold winter nights when she needs to stay up writing a paper for college... we are so happy for her and her new life adventures... I hope this blanket will be part of the great memories she will build.

I'm now working on about 6 different projects...
but I think I'm going to prioritize a bit and go back to only doing 3 projects at a time ... It makes me feel a bit more in control of my crafty life :)

Hope you are having a fantastic week and thank you so much for all your kind comments ... I love each one of them :)

I'm here again with a New Blanket

Hi there my dear friends ... It's been almost a whole month since I have been here and so much has happened.
I have moved and we are so happy to finally be in our house...

I will try to show you a bit of our new nest soon ... We still have lots and lots of boxes everywhere. I'm trying to pace myself and be very careful so I don't get sick... I'm not that young anymore and I want to stay healthy even if it takes me six months or a year to unpack everything ... We are not going anywhere :)

In between unpacking boxes I started and almost finished a whole blanket this month... Can you believe I basically didn't do anything else this month, but crochet this blanket ???
My niece graduated from High School and I had decided I was going to make a blanket for each one of the nieces and nephews graduating from High School and she is the first one from this generation ( we have 2 older ones).

The thing is I didn't realize that she was graduating until a month before she was graduating ... So I had to hurry ... And this is what I did ... This simple double crochet stripped blanket.
I love it ... Simple but still elegant... The colors she likes and something modern and contemporary for a very unique, beautiful girl.

I hope she likes and I hope this blanket covers her with love and show her my love and how proud I'm of her accomplishments...

I probably took too many pictures, but I thought I show you a bit of the view we have been enjoying from our house every day ... We are so very blessed ... And I'm so very happy for what we have and where we are in our lives...

So happy to have you also and that you continue to come and "visit"me ...
Thank you ... Thank you.. Thank you ... For all your encouraging words, for waiting for me to come back and for being here to "see me again".

I hope you are having a fantastic summer :)

Rock a bye Baby... A little hat and blanket for a precious New One ...

I don't have much to tell you dear friends as I have been working on my SIL's blanket like a crazy person. It needs to be done by May 2nd and I think I will make it ... But while I'm furiously working on the blanket I made a little detour...

One of my friends is having a granddaughter...

The cutest thing ever. . . She had to have surgery right when she was born, but she is doing really well.

I meet my friend this Tuesday and wanted to have a blanket and a hat for her. I have been working on it this weekend. I made the hat with my own pattern and just finished sewing the blanket so I'm now going to crochet a border on it. I also decided to make a little bunny for her since we are so close to Easter... Although I'm not done with the gift I wanted to show you what I have been up to this weekend. I will show the final project as soon as it is done.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that your week ahead will be even better.

Thank you to all my new followers for joining in our fun and to all of you for your visit.

PS: I also wanted to tell you I was so very excited this week as I looked at my comments and Lucy ( yes, "the Lucy") from Attic 24 made a comment on my Japanese flower blanket ... I felt so happy and so excited to have such a crochet "guru" make a comment on my simple blanket) ... Such a happy moment ... Thanks Lucy for taking the time to look and make a comment on my blanket) :) :) :)

A New Blanket in the Block...

I have spent quite some time thinking about starting a new blanket. My SIL is having a pretty important Birthday this year... She is turning 50... she is a wonderful person, giving and generous and I think she is more than worth it the amount of work I'll have to put into making a blanket for her. I have just shown you the blanket I made for her daughter's wedding this last summer (look at my wedding blanket post -sorry I'm not able to put a link from blogger today) and she absolutely loved it.

She loves pink, she loves colors and most of all she loves flowers ...

So I decided to go with a very colorful, Japanese flower blanket and put a pink border when it is all done.

I don't really have a pattern other than I know I'll probably make 130 flowers , I am using 13 colors and a size 5mm J crochet hook. I'm using LionBrand Wool-Ease and I'm very happy with the result. The blanket looks beautiful and it will be easier for her to wash when she needs to.

I have to make at least one flower a day and sometimes that is a very hard goal to accomplish, but I am confident I can get it done by the end of April for her special birthday.

If you need any more details you can always ask me, i'm not following a pattern , but this "make as I go" kind of plan is different .. it is very liberating (although kind of stressful for me sometimes - I don't always follow a pattern, but I like to write my own pattern and plan before I start a blanket and this is a whole new thing)

Here are a few pictures for you to see my progress ... and I can't wait to show you the big reveal in April.

I want to thank you for visiting me today ... I hope you enjoy your visit here as much as enjoy reading all of your comments.

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday :)

The wedding Blanket is DONE !!!

It took 2 months, but the day is finally here ...
tomorrow is my niece's wedding.

So much work and so much energy is going into it ...and the hope she will be forever happy ...

I'm especially happy that I did make it to my deadline and today... yes, today the day BEFORE the wedding, her wedding present is done...

meet ...
the wedding blanket...

I am soooo excited...
It turned out even better than I pictured...

Each stitch... each square... just carries lots of love ...a feeling that cannot be expressed...

I have to say it's one of my favorite blankets that I have made ...

Maybe its because my heart is filled with happiness and my hope is that they will like it as much as I do... I put all my heart in to it and all the positive energy to wrap them in a life of happiness...

I know it's bright and colorful and that is exactly what I hope for her and her new husband... a bright and colorful life ...just filled with happy moments and strength to get through the hard times...

Hope you all enjoy looking at my new finished project as much as I am enjoying it right here near me for one more day... and tomorrow ...
to happily ever after :)

Thank you so much for all your kind comments on my last post and for coming to visit me...
I do love to hear from all of you.
Enjoy your weekend ...

Lots of love :)
