A Few New Projects to take on vacation

Hi There my friends...
I'm so excited to tell you today...

We are getting ready to go on a little vacation...and Yes Honey, I'm ready ...I have packed :)...see??? ah! ah! ah! :)

:) :) :)

I'm so happy to finally have some time to relax and enjoy time with my family... and it would not be a vacation to me without a few knitting and crochet projects.

But I haven't told you where we are going yet...

Yes... We're going to Hawaii... :) :) :) where the sun shines :) :) :) One of my favorite places after my beloved, all time favorite Brazil.

Since we leave on Sunday I'm preparing myself ...
I got this yarn for my birthday from my very dear friend Shan...

it's ms. gusset fingering weight 4 ply. You can probably see it at
My friend gave me a GC for a great shop, AFW- Andersen Fiber Works, which I have mentioned here before. Jen has wonderful hand died wool which she dyes herself and a few other yarns. She is featured on www.knitpicks.com.
This one is just divine... it's a 50% silk and 50% wool.
Just sooo great to work with.
I'm going to make a shawl ... I found this great pattern Golden Shawlette, by Mindy Wilkes on www.ravelry.com
It's soooo pretty and I'll share with you as soon as I come back and have it finished.

I'm also going to take this yellow malabrigo that my friend Natalie gave me for my birthday (Goodness my friends know me so well... they know what makes me happy :)
With this one I have started a beautiful crochet shawl I saw at www.cozymadethings.blogspot.com
Kristen made this wonderful shawl I fell in love with it...go check it out ...
When she first put the link on her site I got to a different link and this is the pattern I found...
I really like hers, but I didn't have enough yarn so I decided to stick to this one ...
I can't wait to see how is going to turn out...

Because I think I'll have lots of time in the plane and to relax in the sun I found this other yarn at another great store near my house, Make One, and this great pattern on Ravelry - Cosette by Alana Dakos, from www.nevernotknitting.com

And last but not least ...Just the yarn and no plans...lets see what ends up being ...

I hope I didn't overwhelmed you with soooo many different projects...But that gives you an idea of how crazy I'm ... I always have a few projects on my needles and then I'm HAPPY...
and even happier if I'm taking them all with me on a VACATION.

Thanks for stopping by ...
Hope you come to visit me again...I'm always sooo happy to hear from you:) Tchau!

A Blanket Honoring the Foster Parents of Oregon

Hi There Dear Friends...:)

As I mentioned before I work full time now and have started full time about 2 years ago. I'm a social worker for the State of Oregon and work with foster children and foster parents.
Every year in May we put together a great event to Honor all the foster parents and the GREAT work they do with for the children they care for.
Because we work for the state we cannot get any funds for it and we have to raise the money ourselves.
Every year we raise many gifts and do lots of auctions, bake sales, etc in order to make this event, a nice catered dinner, possible.

This year I'm heading a new fund raiser which I hope it will be very successful and that we are going to raise lots of money for the dinner.
I just thought I would share with you what we are doing and how this fun idea became alive...

A couple of months ago I was able to get yarn donated by a very generous Knitting store owner:
Jan Andersen from www.andersenfiberwork.com
who also own www.hanksinthehood.com (her yarn is all hand died and it is just yummy and beautiful... go check her out ...even if you don't live in Oregon you can still order). She is also featured at www.knitpicks.com

She donated the yarn and I contacted about 20 women..my friends that knit and together we made 25 squares... and then this
beautiful blanket was born...

It started as just an idea...
It then... it grew into some beautiful squares...

More squares...

And more squares...

Plan... plan.. and more plan...

And it's starting to look a lot like a blanket now...

This weekend I'm working on blocking the very last square and I have 2 very talented friends helping me to sew the squares together. Next week I hope to finish the border and we're going to ruffle the blanket...
Hope we can do well and have not to worry about the financial side of our dinner for our wonderful foster parents.

I have been wanting to tell you all about this project for so long, but I didn't have much to show.

I know the project its not finished yet and I hope next week to show you all the finish blanket...

It has been a great journey and I'm excited that it is almost completed and I owe it all to the great work of these 18 women who have all taken the time to make some of the squares and make this project possible.
There is such a great, positive energy in this blanket I think whoever gets it will be a very lucky person...

As soon as it is all done I will put better pictures so you can see how it really looks like...:)

I hope you are having a great weekend and as always I'm so happy you were here to visit me and I would LOVE to hear from you.

Have a great rest of your weekend. Tchau!!!

4th of July Happy Memories

Hi there I haven't been here for a while...
But betweeen having two teens, a full time work and a family time is such a luxury for me sometimes... but I want you to know that I do miss you all...

I wanted to share a little bit of our 4th of July celebrations...
First it all started on Friday when I decided I was going to make a small table runner for my kitchen table... no matter how small I wanted it to be I knew I was in for a little challenge...
so I worked on it on Friday night ... and I worked as fast as I could...

But...when I got here I didn't really like it ...
So I had to abandoned it...which is something that I don't really like to do...but I don't like to spend time on something I don't really like either... :(
So, unfortunately I don't have enough time to make one for this year anymore...
so maybe next year :)

We still had a great time on 4th of July on the parade in our neighborhood and with our kids and our friends...

The only thing missing was my table runner...
I sure think it will be a good idea to start on it a little earlier next year...
Although...

I managed to finish this wreath which I have been wanting to make for a couple of years...

Happy 4th of July everyone...
and Thank You to all of those who have made it possible for us to Celebrate Freedom today!!!

And do come back to visit me...I really love to hear your comments and interactions...Hope to see you soon, Tchau!!!

Linen Stitch/Colorful Crochet Table Runner

I don't know if I should say it's done...
I don't know exactly what is going to be...

It started as a scarf...and developed to a table runner.
The thing is that now that I thought it was done I just think it is not wide enough..not long enough... but I also do not think I should continue with the same border because it will take over the "colorfulness" (if that was a word :) of the center...

Questions...questions...questions...
Have you been in this place before? I have done it so many times... where I just don't want to follow a pattern, I have an idea in my head and I end up right where I am now...

I think it's turning out beautiful and I really love the colors and the pattern, but I think I need to wait ...think about a little ... and then make a decision on how to proceed...
Don't you think???
What is your opinion ??? what do I do???
Do I make it a bit wider...bigger???

I'll show you how it looks like now...
Here it is ...

So... What do you think??? I think it needs to be wider... My thought is to just continue with the same border and same stitch, but now continue with the rust color only for about 2 or 3 rows and hopefully... be done.

I would love any suggestions and comments... :)

Now on a lighter note ... this one was not a hard decision at all.
Got this book for my sister this weekend, but I'll for sure go back to get one for myself...
It has soooo many fun flowers and trims I was just so happy to look at it the whole weekend.
I'll have it for a little while because I won't be taking it for her for a while, but I wil want to have one of my own when this one go away :)

Once again Thank You so much for visiting me here and I look forward to hear your comments and suggestions.

Hope to see you soon again. Tchau :)
