Grey Scarf & Pink Cowl

Hi Friends ...
Hope you had a wonderful weekend...
I have been very busy as always. My daughter had homecoming dance this weekend and we went shopping fro dress...we had 6 girls getting ready at our house on Saturday...
very busy, very loud...but lots of fun! They were all so very beautiful and enjoyed their time together and we enjoyed watching them growing up and becoming young women...
Where does the time goes ???

In the meantime I have been working on the grey scarf I got inspired by Kirsten at cozymadethings.blogspot.com.
This was a fun and quick project and it brought memories of when I first learned how to knit...fun, enjoyable memories that I keep close to my heart.
I decided to make it a short scarf and I'm going to bind off and sew it together, put 3 pretty buttons (I haven't found the right ones yet) and make it into an infinity scarf/cowl...

I'll probably post the final project next week, but here you go ...that is what it looks like now...
pure...simple, meditative knitting ...

Sometimes that is just what we need...

I have been working on some hats to send to my mom which then adds to a complete layette and give to a needy family that is having a brand new baby...
It's such a great and rewarding feeling ...
I have not taken any pictures yet, but promise I'll show it to you before I send them off to Brazil.

Last I just wanted to show you this cowl I made last year...Again...

Very simple (just knitting on the round) but the yarn makes a great statement...

I don't remember the name of the yarn, I got it at a friend's store and she just moved ...
I just thought it is so pretty and so pink ...It makes me happy :)

Hope you enjoy your week and come back to visit me again soon.

:)

I am back... Look what I have been doing...

Hi there my Dear Friends...

I have not been missing in action... I just have been very busy and having computer trouble...
You see I use my kids computer to post my blogs as I only have an Ipad and cannot post pictures from it (if anyone knows how I could download the pictures and post with the Ipad i would love to learn :). I have not forgotten you and It feels like an eternity since last time I wrote here...

I have been busy working on a few projects this last couple of weeks.

I found two great blogs: www.outstandingcrochet.blogspot.com and the other is www.crochetemoda.blogspot.com . The last one is in Brazil so most posts are in portuguese, but they both have great, wonderful fashion designs. I showed my daughter, who is now 15, some of the dresses and next thing I knew I'm making a dress for her with only a picture to guide me...

She is lucky that I can do that with crochet...if it was knitted it would be a whole different story...

This is the inspiration:

And this is where I'm at...since last Sunday ...

I think it will look pretty close and she will look so beautiful when she dresses up with this dress...I still have a long ways to go, but just wanted to share with you. I'll post a picture again when it's completed...

While I was working on the dress I had to take a break once in a while and I got these ones done...

much bigger yarn...much quicker ...

I found this one at www.yvestown.com I just love this simple pattern and the colors make the cowl... simple, but elegant.

And this one was inspired on another cowl a friend was making, but I gave it my own spin with the way I twist around the neck with a pretty broach...
what do you think???
Simple and quick ...but keeps me pretty warm :)

Yes... I know ...I am a little crazy...But these are the things that keep me sane and how I relax... even though some of my friends say they think I don't sleep ...yes I do... but every time I have a little bit of time I am with my family and knitting or crocheting...

So... I'll show you one last thing so you don't think that I don't do anything else other than knitting and crochetting...

we picked our grapes last week and we got so much this year...we had a great harvest and they were so pretty don't you think?

Yes, right on our back yard...now I just had to stop knitting and off to make grape juice...grape jelly...we had so much my husband even thought about making some wine...that would've been fun! :) but we decided to stay with just making juice for now.

Hope you know that I did miss you ...
I have been trying to keep up reading all of your blogs (just couldn't post here till today)

Hope you all have a great Sunday and enjoy the rest of your weekend...
I'm so very glad you stopped by to see me :)

Missing my Father...

3 years ago today,  my father left us for another dimension...

I love him so very much and I'm so proud to have been his daughter.

He was a kind and gentle man with the strength of a rock.
He thought me everything about honesty, character and kindness...

He was fun, funny and had a great love for photography and art...

I'm so glad I continue to live life and see the world through his eyes...
As a friend told me the day he left us ... every time I look in the mirror I see him...
and that comforts me...to know he continues to live ...with us and on each one of us...

Today I just wanted to share with you a little bit of the great man he was...

My father... my hero...my great inspiration...
I miss you !

I love to hear your comments...
I'll try to post an update on my projects this week...
Today ...I'm just missing my father.
(I'm grateful I had him in my life :))

Hope you will come back to visit soon :)

New Projects on my Hands

Hello my dear friends...:)

This has been such a busy week and the weekend just went by so fast...
Every week I hope I'll have time to do an extra post in the weekend, but I feel it's so important to spend time with my kids while they are still home with us...
I miss you all and I really, really enjoy to hear all your comments throughout the week and it keeps me encouraged and happy.

This week (even though I said I was not going to buy anything new until I finished a few ( just a few) of my projects) I indulged in some new yarn...Just 1 little, simple ball of yarn... One of the big craft stores near my work is going to move. They are discounting everything in the store and it's very hard to not leave there with just 1/2 the store ...
I found this  Cascade Yarn - Heritage Sock Yarn and it's the most yummy color...There is no color name just a number, but it's is a blueish grey... so pretty and it will be so beautiful with black and probably charcoal grey...

I saw this scarf at www.cozymadethings.blogspot.com Kirsten made a scarf with just simple garter stitch and when I saw it brought me back to when I first learned how to knit...I just loved that feeling and I decided I needed ...I wanted to make a simple garter stitch scarf...Her scarf was so beautiful, simple and elegant and I just loved it...
So I'm going to attempt with this yarn, but it's a lot thinner than I thought...I'll start (yet another project) and will let you know soon how it turned out :)

But don't think that I broke my promise to myself just yet...
Remember this shawl (I also saw at Kristen's blog ...I do love her style and choices of colors ...Thank you Kristen for the inspiration).

My Mom loved it...and she also loves green...
So, I'm trying to finish it this week so I can send to her before the "winter" is over in Brazil...

I think she is going to like it ...it's in her favorite color...
Just wish I could fly there and take it to her :)

Well my dear friends I missed you all.
I'm going to have dinner (yes, it's 8:30), have my tea and go start on my new scarf...sooo excited!
Hope you have a great week and come to visit again:)
